Does anyone have ideas/tips for women wearing long hair during basic training?

I french braid my hair. I've been doing it a long time and can do it in a minute or less. If you decide that's what you want to do start practicing now. In basic, I braided my hair at night and put a pantyhose on it. ripped off the pantyhose in the am while running out the door.

I know it sounds negative, but it has really given me a boost in self-esteem.

For men with curly hair, what looks better, just shampooing or using some sort of styling gel?
Depends on the girl, and it also depends on your personal sense of style. Using a product on your hair can help control the curls a bit, but you can use product and make it appear more natural. If you have shorter curly hair, try putting a small but of moose or gel ( if your hair stands up well on it's own, use gel. if you need more volume, use moose) in you hair and working through well. use a blowdryer and work with the curls. it will give you a very natural look. if you have more questions, feel free to IM me or e-mail me. Unfortunately for him my housemate is losing his hair and my girlfriend reckons he鈥檇 look better with a different hairstyle. He鈥檚 only 26 and at the moment he kind of spikes it up on top the same way he always has since school. The trouble is it kind of accentuates the fact that it鈥檚 thinning and top of that his hair is fairly fine and light anyway so it isn鈥檛 a good look.
How should I broach the subject of a better hairstyle with him?

2) Go totally bald, thats sexier
3) If he tottally cool of being bald, tell him to make sure the place that arent bald to be neat and smart (You know, like professors). The only look that can worsen it up if he stays too long without any haircut.
4) Go to hair clinic.
Comb over is not cool. I assume you have seen bald people who like to comb over and they look kinda wearing wig? So dont do that...

Good hairspray for styling men's hair?
I've got medium length hair and I want to style it, maybe spiked up. From personal experience, do you know a good hairspray product which will work well with men's hair? I've tried things like matte clay, but that makes my hair feel greasy. Gel doesn't work very well either. I'm asking you guys because every time my hubby goes to get a haircut they give him a really stupid looking one. It always makes his head look bigger and they'll cut it short but give him this longer fringe in the front, I don't know if they're trying to hide the receding hairline (it's still in the early stages, it's not bad by any means) and to me it just looks plain ridiculous.
So there it is. He has straight, dark hair. Thinner hair, but not too thin. Early stages of receding hairline. LARGE head. He wears a mustache and a goatee/beard thingy. He has a weaker type chin, so the goatee/beard thingy balances out the rest of his face.

I am not sure how short you are referring to but a good barber can design a regular layer or taper cut or one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to suit almost any young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Try a regular layer or taper cut. Then if you wish to go shorter, next haircut go for an ivy league. Shorter still, a crew cut.

I am not sure how short you are referring to but a good barber can design a regular layer or taper cut or one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to suit almost any young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Try a regular layer or taper cut. Then if you wish to go shorter, next haircut go for an ivy league. Shorter still, a crew cut.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. you can grow your hair about a innch than your normail hair if short and then just apply some light gel or even oil (johson baby oil-or vatika-or any oil for hair that you can get in most asian stores)
apply some light oil instead gel coz it works better then gel and its also good for hair. you dont have to wash your hair if your apply oil but with gel you have to wash your hair everytime you apply it.
apply oil and rub your hair towards the ends and bring them forward and style it somewhat like you do with your gel
My brother has super curly black hair and he just keeps it relatively short, long enough for maybe one ringlet, and uses gel and it looks great! He loves Paul Mitchell.

i mean my hair used to be staright until i moved to florida whare its always humid. and it all got burnt and curly. and i didnt conditon it until now but it still doesnt help. so what can i do? the comb doesnt work. and pulling back looks wierd becuase i have a bit of hair but its not long. is there anyway to fix it? No problem with that, just not a recommended LOOK for a person with a real job. Just get it cut short, not gone!
Wash and go, get some ';moderate'; highlights now and exposure to sun will make it lighter as the summer progresses, then by July or so, get a touchup on the highlights and by the time school starts, you can cut it all off and start clean for darker ';Fall'; hair styles.
Use your facial hair as an accessorie, get a soul patch and color it blonde for summer. Your whole look can change per season....don't limit yourself.
My husband has a mustache for Summer, a Goatee for Spring/Fall and a full beard in Winter. This summer, he shaving it all off for the first time in 20 years...that should be a shocker. So have fun with all your body!
Also on the ';hair'; front, trim your all over body hair to 1/2 inch, get a trimmer and use a ';Large'; size guard and trim the underarm hair, pubs, chest and leg hair....WHY? depend what kind of hair you have? the spikey semetrical stle hair is in at the moment. spikey, and off centre, with loads of gel! almost anything goes today, but dont have that 1960,s shaggy messy look( i cant stand it! ha ha) just makes you look scruffy! and as for gay people, i am a woman and some of the best cuts and styles i have ever had have been styled by someone gay!! i acually prefere a gay man to do it, rather than a woman, as they are more fussy and precise, and always seem to know what looks good and what the latest fashion is!! good luck.

Using Massage oil decreases the friction of a therapist's hands rubbing the skin. Friction is even greater in hairy areas. Therefore, oil it makes the massage strokes so much easier to manipulate. A hairier body might need more oil to keep from pulling the hair and creating discomfort, but any half decent therapist knows that you must never skip using oil of some form just because the client is a bit more hairy than normal.
Massage oil, used to enable the massage of muscles without exposing the skin to a lot of friction, it s soothing, and because of its gentle nature, has a sensual way of relieving muscles even when they feel so tired.
There are various types of massage oils available and it is your responsibility to find the best massage oil for your individual clients needs.
I generally stick to unscented oils.
Base oils are vegetable oils that are neutral -- scentless and non-reactive in general. The 'seed' oils are the most popular: apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil and so on.

You need a shampoo that is specifficaly formulated for dry hair. These types of shampoos have a greatter percentage of conditioner compared to detergents. There are so many brands out there you can choose from. Just go to the shampoo section of your local supermarket and look for a product that is specifically formulated for dry hair...that is the key.
If your hair is extremely dry and you are sensitive to most shampoos, you can try Johnson's baby shampoo....I know it seems wierd, but it is very mild and has a clean fresh scent.

I'm asking you guys because every time my hubby goes to get a haircut they give him a really stupid looking one. It always makes his head look bigger and they'll cut it short but give him this longer fringe in the front, I don't know if they're trying to hide the receding hairline (it's still in the early stages, it's not bad by any means) and to me it just looks plain ridiculous.
So there it is. He has straight, dark hair. Thinner hair, but not too thin. Early stages of receding hairline. LARGE head. He wears a mustache and a goatee/beard thingy. He has a weaker type chin, so the goatee/beard thingy balances out the rest of his face.

He explain to me why because I have thin hair and its a little blended with my skin tone. I am light skin with black hair. Once you start using you must continue with it. This contains a drug called minoxidil which was used to control blood pressure. You just apply Regain to your scalp. It should help you keep what hair you have. You could try a good multi vitamin, Slogar are the best.

and he wrote an answer in here a few weeks ago and I wrote down his responses, which was excellent, and included supplements he'd been taking that'd been effective for him - I'm a little thinning on the top at 45 and couldn't even find the question in the archives.... If hair thinning is part of the regular pattern of male pattern baldness then anything that contains an inhibitor of the enzyme 5伪-Reductase (mainly type II) and the testosterone metabolite dihydrotestosterone (DHT) might help. This enzyme and the metabolite DHT are both implicated.
Saw palmetto [ Serenoa repens], nettle root , black cohosh [Actaea racemosa, Cimicifuga racemosa], willow herb [Epilobium parviflorum] can all help here.
Other herbs and supplements that can strengthen the hair include: horsetail [Equisetum arvense], zinc, B complex vitamins, protein and Methyl-sulfonyl-methane or MSM (sulphur is an integral part of the hair).
Externally you can try rosemary oil or lemongrass oil (cleanse the scalp and stimulates the circulation), capsicum/cayenne oil, ginger oil and black seed oil. You could use individually or make a cocktail.
Avoid soy (soya) as it can promote hair loss by its suppressing action on the thyroid gland. Good thyroid function is important for healthy hair so it might be a good idea to get a blood test. If you are not on thyroid medication you could take sea kelp tablets which might help with hair growth as they boost thyroid function....NOT if you are thyroid medication however.

My hair is really getting thin on the top of my head. It didn't always used to be that thin. My Thinning didn't really began to happen until probably 2 or 3 years after I graduated in 2003.
