Try to condition at least weekly. This should help with the breakage. Consider getting layers cut throughout the length of your hair. That way you can wrap and go without to much maintenance.

I think it depends to a point, on if you look your age, look younger than your age, or if you look older than your age. I've seen some 40 yr. olds that look 50 because of all the sun damage to their skin and they are smokers. I'm going to be 42 this year and people usually think I look 35-36. If you look younger you can get away with styles that are a little trendy. The most important thing is you want a style that will compliment your face shape and features. If you got a style that looks great on you, it doesn't matter what your age is. i agree with idahoreptile! it's what you feel like and like. i also have long and curly hair(unless i choose to dry it straight) and i will be 38 next month. i also know what she means about people our age looking so old because i could pass for my 20's too. co you do what makes you feel good but i would try to pick a style to flatter me.

There is no difference in women over 40 than women under 30 as far as hair styles go. Maybe women over age 80 need an appropriate hair style, but that's about it.

There are styles that do not suit a woman in her 40's and make you look desperate. Look at Nicole Sheridan - she looks haggarded with all of that hair and her old face. On the other hand I work with a women who is 47 and looks 55 - she has a 1980's poodle perm and it ages her. I think any classic stlye is best.

as a salon owner I would forget the idea that women of a certain age have to have short hair, it is total rubbish


A bob is a nice cut low maintenance depending on your face shape etc, I am sorry to hear that you have a sensitivity to hair products, however most people do, although it hits them in there purses, some clients have so many products on there hair ie all silicone based it is untrue, I would suggest that you pick a good salon and have a free consultation, and do not be bullied into any style they may want you to have


It would be my opinion that your hair is in very good condition because you don't use products on it, although you don't say whether it is long , thick thin colour etc, even my salon offers the latest in computer tech , so that you can see any style style on you before any work is done to your hair

Being an older woman, I find having my hair on the longer side is the best. All summer, it's pulled back or up with a big clip. I let it air dry to keep it healthy and get it trimmed every few months. If I want a special occasion, then I can curl it up and still feel a bit sexy at 60...lol

It really depends on what length of hair you have, if its shoulder or below you can do all sorts with it and you should only need clips to hold it not spray products. Claire's Accessories have a lot of holding aids for longer hair, and if it is long don't let anyone tell you to get it cut, if you feel you can look after it then its your choice, not theirs. I have really long hair and if anyone told me to get it cut they would get a right ear full.

bring your bangs forward onto your face, start blow drying them with a round brush or a flat brush depending on your hair type and how you're comfortable wearing them and as you dry it start directing it to whichever side you want to keep it on.





If your bangs keep flopping onto your hair or going back into a middle parting, try this. On towel dried damp hair, you could use a comb to comb your bangs to whichever side you want to wear them on then use a clip to hold it in place. Once it dries, release the clip and it will probably stay that way. Do this for a week and your parting will start staying that way.

I have side swept bangs and they are pretty hard to maintain, but once you get it right, they are really cute! Definitely get a round brush and blow dry them to the side you want them to go. If your dryer has a cool setting, hold the bangs in place with the round brush and keep it on the cool setting for a few seconds. This will set them in place. Also, if you have hair that doesn't get too oily or greasy, put a little bit of hair spray, spray wax, or even jarred wax on them. this just gives them that ';finished'; look. After you've finished: DON'T touch them! Also, don't try to curl them with a curling iron because they'll just get weird on you. It's definitely good to maintain them with a good trim every so often. Good luck!!! (Side-swept bangs are awesome!)
After you take a shower, let your bangs dry naturally. Then, once they have dried; take a round med-large size natural bristle hair brush and wrap the bangs around the brush. With a slow motion, and your hair dryer set at medium heat; comb inwards but with the bangs stretched out above your head. Continue to comb inwards in a slow motion with a constant heat. It's best to blow dry your bangs in sections. Good luck!
If your hair is thick ...bend it with a curling iron, just abit...and use spry to hold it. If your hair is fine....blow dry with some spry...should do the trick1
try drying your hair using a round brush, and directing the bangs to the correct side using the blow dryer and ceramic round brush...you just need to train the hair to sweep correctly on a daily basis!
