If you are trying to really grow your hair, Mane and Tail is not the way to go. As mentioned in some of the archived questions, this product will improve your hair for the first couple of times you use it and then you will notice a very heavy waxy build up. I would strongly encourage you not to use it.
You would be better to use a good healthy shampoo and conditioner system (creme of nature, optimum's oil therapy line, or kera care), keep your scalp moisturized (but no heavy oils) and use as little heat as possible to try to grow your 5 inches.
Also, know that 5 inches of growth in about 3 months is a lot. Your hair grows at its own pace, and all we can really do it try to help it along. If your hair is fast growing, doing the above will help maximize your potential for growing all 5 inches. Otherwise, you will probably get +/-2 inches in the time you suggest.
