Do you think that long hair, no bangs, is appropriate on women over 40, or is it strictly for younger gals?

I am not worried about what others think, and I've never had anyone say anything but good about my hair, but today, someone in her 20's (most likely) told me that I should cut my hair because long hair belongs to younger, single women, and that I should have a 40ish Mom haircut, and that she does them all the time for older women. Huh? It was even clean and silky today! lolDo you think that long hair, no bangs, is appropriate on women over 40, or is it strictly for younger gals?
Hay, sounds like the GREEN EYED MONSTER to me. She's trying to force her value system on you. What I think should not matter, it should be what you Feel that you should follow. She's probably one of those who dyes older Woman's hair blue for them... would you want that as well?

ME!

Besides, she probably thinks a subdivision is part of a math problem with a randomly organized constant variable.

I saw her in a store ordering a pretty ugly long sleeved t-shirt, in ';Extra medium';. (seriously funny, terribly enjoyable, I was terribly pleased, I mean who wares tight slacks.)

Come to think of it, I've been to her place, every magazine on her genuine imitation naughahide coffee table had a piece of toilet paper for a bookmark.

In her defense though, she is a hair care professional (She got a cheerleading scholarship) willing to let most of her clients make weekly installments of $3.00 for her original copies of instant classic styles using synthetic natural gas.

She doesn't suffer from stress. She's a clearly confused carrier with flexible ethics.

see how much fun the mixing of oxymorons and passive aggression can be?

I'm back... and somrhow I think after reading this you will know when it is time to let them know that this CAT HAS SHARP CLAWS AND KNOWS HOW TO USE THEM!!!

I can never explain in words the need for MEN to fix things. I can say its like being a biker, special feelings that can only be explained to those who do not need to hear for they have been there. now boys... YOU ARE MOST WELCOME AND THANK YOU

Maybe I can give the barest flicker of how it feels, for I have seen that same look in the eyes of a mother who has just given birth as she holds the new life she grew for the first time. And now as one of my hero's would say you know the rest of the story!

Oh I don't know. I guess if it looks good on you, you shouldn't change it. I think you can do any haircut you like, just make sure you like it, because it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it, just as long as you're happy. Best Wishes. :)
Forget what that stupid girl said. Older women look great with long hair so long as it is clean and cared for. I think once they get into their late sixties then perhaps a bob is a better look, elegant.

I detest Granny perms, and I detest brainless trendies who are still young enough to know everything and think they have the market cornered on taste! I'll bet she thinks a lot of ugly things are great too.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox, but really, long beautiful feminine hair looks great on women in there forties and fifties, and getting older does not mean we have to be masculine ! Keep your beautiful hair and forget about that silly twit.

Geez, I've got steam coming out of my ears now ! hehehe.
Oh what a rude person! Trust me, I see a lot of women over 40 with long hair. It can look quite good and sometimes a short cut just won't work for an older woman...everyone's faces are different. She sounds like she's a little jealous of how good you look for your age, if you want my opinion.
yes it fine!!

because most woman that are older with long hair dont wear there hair like 20 years old anyway like unless you straighten your hair then it proably appropriate like depends on how u style it . i see like odler women with long hair but htere has a slight curl like a hot rollers curl or they use a curling iron or somthing.

i think its fine that person was just being rude.

I think she is right. Long hair on women over 40-45 makes you look like you are trying to be 16 again. Shorter hair makes a woman look more professional and confident.

You don't have to look scalped but a nice collar length would be nice on someone in their 40's
dun wrry bout wt ppl say she was prolly jealous or sumtin n way if ur long hair suits u and u tink it looks good den keep it
if you have the face shape for it why not?
this is just some people's opinion, I think long hair over 40 can be very stylish and professional looking at the same time if it fits your face style. Look at magazines or search the web and find your face shape and what styles suit your face shape, then go with your gut feeling. Good Luck
Psh. I am 40 and have long hair. It's cut into long layers as it has been most of my life. My heavy big hair necessitates layers, otherwise I would go without them.

Silly little girl is just that ~ silly. Young peole don't have exclusive rights to long hair. lol.
Hahah. She's jealous...pure and simple deary.

My ex hair dresser/ ex friend always whined about my long hair and said that is was this and that and that I might think it was 'all that' but it wasn't and I should cut it off. (She can't grow her hair long, it breaks).

I refused to let her cut it, so one when she was giving me a 'trim', she combed my hair over my eyes so I couldn't see...and hacked off about 6 inches.

Women get incredibly catty about hair. I've always admired any woman over thirty who has long hair and hope that in another ten years I can manage to long hair still too....

I've seen women in their seventies with waist length hair and they looked beautiful. The only time it looks tacky or wannabe is when it's straggly and unkept, but if you look after it, you'll be most envied.
shes crazy

i think long hair is good for you

as long as its not all crazy
i dig chicks with widow's peaks. sexy. real sexy.
Personally, my grandma has long hair, no bangs, and shes about 50. And It looks great on her. She just puts a headband in it all the time.
As a general rule, long hair isn't the best on the more experienced lady. However, certain individuals can carry it off. I think that to give you an appropriate answer, we are going to have to see a photo.

Here, I'll start with mine.

that stupid do ur hair however u want...u can be 13213 and still have long hair...tell everyone else that sayin old pple cant have to stfu!!!
My mom's mother had long hair, no bangs until she died at 72- so did her mother and mother-in law. One of my aunts still has long hair - she is 75. My mother-in-law had long hair until death at 79.

I love long hair - had it until I had chemo - short hair is a complete pain!

When I had long hair I could braid it, ponytail it, pull top back, curl it, etc.

When I wake up with short hair, I look like either Ty Pennington, Carrot Top, or Bozo the Clown.

Phooey on people who don't like my long hair! Tell them not to look at me.
