I just colored my hair a month and one week and already the color has come out and I paid alot of money. I think I will color it myself next time its cheaper and I think the color lasts longer any suggestion :)) I have med Golden brown hair :)))Hair color...Women when dying how long do you wait until you recolor it for fresh color?
Hair grows approximately 6 inches per year. That is 1/2 an inch per month. That is about how grown out your roots would be every 4 weeks. If you are doing a solid color, close to your natural shade you can wait a little longer. If you are doing a vibrant shade or one that is a lot lighter than your natural shade a shorter time interval would be more appropriate. Foil highlighted hair can wait a little longer,6-8 weeks because it does not create a solid line at the root . Solid colors require more maintenance.
If you color at home try to touch up the roots only, even though the box says to wait and then pull through to the ends. only pull through when the color has really faded. If you can skip pulling it through every time, the hair will not be as damaged and will not fade as fast.
Changing your color frequently can cause quick fading,as well as going from lighter to darker. Your hair is like a sponge, the more porous it becomes the more color will absorb into it and the faster the color will fade. This explains why some colors grab really dark and also why some colors fade really fast.
Also, red color molecules are alot smaller, they are harder to get to hold in the hair. This is why reds fade faster. If you are trying to get a red tone or a dark tone to hold go one shade darker than what you want to end up with, when it fades it should land at the color you really want to be and it will stay in longer, when you refresh the faded color, touch up the roots with the normal solution mixture, then add a little water to it before pulling it through to the ends. This reduces how fast it grabs in the hair and also reduces the damage to the length of the hair. By doing this you will keep the damage down and fading won't occur so rapidly. But, don't forget to try to touch up the roots only 1 -2 times in bettween. Good luck, Rena!
Just read Baby D's comment and she is right about color protective shampoo and conditioner.Hair color...Women when dying how long do you wait until you recolor it for fresh color?
Get your color from a beauty supply place and it should last longer. I go to Sally's. Yes, you have to buy everything separate. I highlight my own hair. I do get help sometimes with pulling through the cap, but when I tell my honey, what I'm saving him, he's usually more interested in helping me.
I think you should wait like 3 weeks... as a rule. You could ask someone at a beauty supply store, they are stylists and the info is free...
Please remember if you have blond or blondish hair, consider it yellow and do not use a color with a blue, or green base b/c yellow and blue make green, so do yellow and green. Yellow and red make orange. There are plenty of neutral bases and you can tame a color with a lesser volume developer. The lower the number, 10 being the least, as far as I know, for non-stylists, yeilding a darker version of the color. and 30 being the greatest, yeilding the lightest color.
It depends, anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.
If you decide to dye your hair at home make sure that you leave your hair unwashed for at least 2 days as this will protect your scalp from burning.
They now sell colours that will give you Multi Faceted Tones or Ranges, which looks very natural.
Condition extensively afterwards and do a hair pack ( deep conditioning treatment every week to keep your hair looking shiny and soft.
I have always colored, my Hair, because since I am a Woman that is picky in everything I would rather do everything myself, to be satisfied. I color my Hair every three Mos. there are a lot of Hair colors on the market, if you want to find out what color is best for you, on the box, of hair coloring is the shade that best fits your natural coloring.
My hair is short, pixie short and so I get it cut every 6 weeks, I tend to recolour it every 6 weeks also to keep it looking it's best. I always colour my own hair, I use Herbal Essences colours, I love the Spicy Ginger and Radiant Ruby colours the best.
i wait every 3-6 months. however you can just touch up the roots every few weeks if you want. it's better to get it professional done because the box hair dye stresses your hair.
Something you may need to make sure of, is that you are using a color protective shampoo/conditioner. That makes a huge difference on how long your color lasts. I have really dark hair and have a fire-engine red streak in the front and I was wondering why it seemed to be fading so fast, and when I started using a color-protective shampoo it helped emensley. You can color your hair after a month, that's not a problem, but to help keep the color fresh and vibrant, I would suggest making sure you had a good shampoo/conditioner. Also, something to keep in mind, when you are coloring your hair, a good tip is to put a light conditioner on the ends of your hair before to protect them from splitting and damaging them.
Hope this helps :)
Hi Rena,I usually have my hair done at a salon every 3-4 months, but I just do highlights, I also have a great friend who does it just right everytime, so it's worth the money and it always turns out just the way I like it. I would not trust myself to do it myself. LOL I leave it up to the pro's, I have very long, dark brown hair with highlights, to cover my grey.
To freshen up your colour between colouring sessions (you can do your whole head every 2-4 months if you want a colour change, but your roots can be done as soon as they show), I would suggest you first do your roots (if they're showing) and follow up the next day with a glossing treatment. I know that Clairol makes a very effective one. The gloss will keep your hair colour vibrant and make your hair shiny and more manageable and you only have to leave it in for 20 minutes.
Another tip to keep your hair colour vibrant is when doing it at home not to rinse out completely. You should still see some colour running into the drain when you finish your shower. Just make sure you don't go to bed with wet hair or your pillows will get stained!
I color every 3 to 4 weeks.
Loreal Color Expert is great and easy to use. You put your own streaks in. The color I use is Biscotti and have never gotten so many compliments on my hair.
usually, people wait 6-8 weeks between colors. but, you can cut that down a bit. i dont suggest a box color though. the chemicals used can react very strangely with other chemicals and give you a horrible result. i would stick with a professional stylist. or, try a cosmetology school. they offer professional products at really discounted rates. good luck
I usually dye my hair once every three to six weeks. Clarol is a good dye as is Loreal Preference. My color of choice is dark auburn.
